Clinical significance of acetone:
  1. A reliable indicator of metabolism of lipids.
    Breath acetone is an indicator of ketogenic substances
  2. Indicator of the abnormality of carbohydrate metabolism: lack of insulin secretion
  3. Indicator of lack of carbohydrates: the sign of starvation.
(*)Concerning the significance of isoprene, up to now the evaluation of it has not been clarified. There has long been a hope that breath isoprene analyses could be a noninvasive diagnostic tool to assess blood cholesterol levels or cholesterol synthesis rate. However, significant analytical problems in breath isoprene analysis had limited the usefulness of these measurements. Here, it is expected that BAS-2000 will open this finally, and lead to the goal by your own research.

And the gas sensitivity of SGD is shown in figure below. We can see SGD has ability to detect combustible (inflammable) gases, including CO, H2, CH4, H2S with very low concentration as 0.1ppm. Then, SGD is a better GC detector than FID, FPD, or TCD. Besides, SGD is micro size, and less electrical consumption.

Biogas Hydrogen Analyzer, BAS-200


Hydrogen is the product of anaerobes in human body. Hydrogen in breath reflects the movement of gastrointestinal flora1), and oral hydrogen is expected as a indicator of activity of oral anaerobes.

Reaction of anaerobes in digestive tract:
Carbohydrates + Anaerobes = H2 + SCFA (short chain fatty acid) + α

BAS-200 offers the easiest accessible way to hydrogen measurement with compact, portable, rapid, reliable and very economical. Therefore, it will be very useful for non-invasive test in gastrointestinal activity, and indicator of oral hygiene.
Recently, very attractive reports on hydrogen in the body have been introduced to influence much to our health maintenance; that is hydrogen has the SOD like action to attack reactive oxygen species (ROS) 2)3).

Biogas Ammonia Analyzer, BAS-300

BAS-300 measures NH3 in oral cavity with the simplest way, and is useful for oral care medicine.
Ammonia formation ability is a good indicator to evaluate oral hygiene. Ueda H, who is the representative of Mitleben R&D Inc., invented AAM1) (Amplified Ammonia Method) in 1995 and developed it with the ammonia analyzer system (AttainTM) to Japanese dental market2)3).
BAS-300 is a entirely new version of AttainTM ; much simpler, rapid, and economical ammonia analyzer without any expendables, according to the AAM principle basically. And BAS-300 is hoped to be employed by more dentists as an indicator of the preventive dentistry in practice.
